Exam security
Tab-switch detection, fullscreen, camera monitoring, keystroke logs, violations and unlock keys.
Security settings are off by default. Turn on only what you need for each exam.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tab-switch detection | Counts a violation when the student leaves the exam page. |
| Require fullscreen | The exam must stay in fullscreen; leaving it counts as a violation. |
| Camera monitoring | Uses the student's camera to notice when they look away, leave, or someone else appears. A signal must last longer than the grace period you set before it counts. |
| Live monitoring | With camera monitoring on, lets you watch and hear students live from the Monitor page. Nothing is recorded. |
| Keystroke logging | Records what students type and paste so you can review it later. |
| Maximum violations | What happens when a student reaches the limit: submit the exam automatically, or pause it until they enter your unlock key. |
Unlock key
With an unlock key, a student who reaches the limit is paused instead of submitted. You give them the key to continue. You choose how many pauses they get before the next one submits the exam.
Exemptions
If a student has no working camera, exempt them from camera monitoring for that exam so they can still take it.
Reviewing what happened
On each submission, open Exam events and Keystroke log to see violations, time away, pasted text and the full typing history.
